I wrote Artist's Lament a few years ago, to try to express all that
we try to say through the things that we create. I've put two different
versions here, because they're a little different. I don't really know
which one I prefer. There's something about each one that I like. |

This song was born from my own Roman Catholic background, and inspired
by the great (if not wild) love affair God has had with Humanity through
the ages. I can only hope that this gentle song can in some way bring a
sense of that love to each person who hears it. |

Steven is a military man stationed in Saudi Arabia. He wrote a poem
several years ago, and told me that reading it brings him comfort. When
I read it, it started singing, so I asked him if he would kindly let me
sing it. He said, "yes." Thanks, Steve! |

I love singing in foreign languages. This one is in French. It's about
the assurance of seeing the vision of Mary as we approach the Eternal.
I found the song in an old French Catholic hymnal years ago, and sang it
just because it was beautiful, though I didn't know what it meant. Then
I learned how beloved the song was among my elders, and love keeping it
in my repertoire. |
